Guide to London

London is always a favorite destination for me, but London during the holiday season hits the top of my “Must See” travel list. I hadn’t been since January of 2020 and well, we all know what happened next. Needless to say, a trip to London this November was the best way to kick off the holiday season. We visited some tried and true spots, but also worked in some touristy activities along the way as it was Travis’ first time in London. We stayed at the Langham in London for the first time and it was a great experience all around, from the staff to the cocktails, and turn-down service. The Langham is in a central location which gave us quick access to everything we wanted to do {read: shop, dine, explore}.

If you’re looking to visit London, during the holidays or otherwise, here are my current recommendations:

Food & Wine:

Drinks at the Connaught Bar: the bar off the lobby of The Connaught hotel, located in Mayfair. The cocktails are next level and the small bites are as equally as delectable.

Dinner at Scott’s Mayfair: cozy atmosphere, bustling with energized and highly knowledgeable staff and the seafood is divine.

Dinner at the Savoy Grill: it’s as good as everyone says. Must order the infamous Beef Wellington and the beef tartare.

The Diamond Jubilee Tea Salon at Fortnum & Mason: a true British classic. Enjoy petite sandwiches and pastries over a world-class cup of team {and champagne}. This experience won’t disappoint.

Brunch at Chiltern Firehouse: the food and drink menus are perfectly curated and the atmosphere alone is worth a visit. Go here for an all around good time.

Fish & Chips at Mayfair Chippy: If you want to indulge in the fried classic, Mayfair Chippy is your spot.

If you’re in the ornament game like me then make a b-line directly to the fourth floor of Liberty. Liberty knows how to Christmas better than the best. This trip I dedicated all of my shopping budget to ornaments, but I highly recommend hitting Soho and Mayfair for all the small boutique shops for one of a kind treasures and gifts.

Finally, if there’s one truly touristy thing to do, I’d say it’s The London Eye. You really do get one of the best views in the city which includes a lot of the landmarks. And if you can squeeze in one other, make it The Changing of the Guards at Buckingham Palace.

xo, Caitlin
